Riding Areas & Trail Maps There are 6 popular snowmobile riding areas in and near the Lake Tahoe Basin. Blackwood Canyon (On West side of Lake Tahoe) Blue Lakes (South of South Lake Tahoe) Brockway Summit (North of North Lake Tahoe) Donner Summit (Accoss the I-80 road from Donner Ski Resort) Little Truckee Summit (15 miles North of Truckee, just off hiway 89) Click here for a trail map of the eastern portion of Tahoe National Forest. Spooner Summit to Kingsbury Grade (south side of Spooner Summit. Spooner Summit is 11 mile west of highway 395 in Carson City and 12 miles east of S. Lake Tahoe on highway 50). Tahoe Meadows (1 mile from Mt.Rose Summit, off highway 431, and 7 miles from Incline Village. Click here for a general map of this riding area. -------------------------- New Speed Limits on Blue Lakes Road Effective immediately, the Alpine County Supervisors established new speed limits on the Blue Road, going south from the Blue Lakes Snowmobile Park. 1. 15 mph within 50 feet of any campground, campsite, or concentration of people or animals. Said speed limit shall be from the stating area of the Blue Lakes Snowmobile Park and continue 0.1 miles south along Blue Lakes Road. 2. 35 mph from 0.1 to 1.1 miles on Blue Lakes Road, in the residential zone, including the entrance to Blue Camas Road. 3. 45 mph from the 1.1 mile marker for approximately 12 miles to the Lower Blue Lake. If you frequently ride this area, it is advice that you read the letter and the attached Ordinance spelling out these new speed limits. This can be useful for snowmobilers who have never launched their snowmobiles from these trail heads. The format of the GPS Coordinate is: Degrees Minutes Seconds, using WGS 84 map datum.
