2005 Tahoe Snowmobiling Photos
Following is a selected set of snowmobile photos from the 2005 winter snowmobile season. All photos shown were reduced in size and quality for faster internet download and for efficient display on your computer. Usage of these photos for printing and other purposes, may give inferior results.
Besides photo number and date, the trail head is given where we started our ride of the area were the photo was taken. Visit the Riding Area web page for a list of trail heads and riding areas.
Please contact the webmaster at if you you would like an original copy of any photo(s), in jpg file format. Most of the original photos are sized at 1600 x 1200 pixels and have a file size ranging from 400 to 950 KBs.

#1, 1/6/05, Little Truckee Summit: One first ride of the season at LTS and right after a major snow storm. Greg McKay tried a simple hill climb, that would ordinarily be easy, but with the fresh snow.... well you see what happened

#2, 1/14/05, Brockway Summit: Gary Taylor found too much soft snow while riding up hill through the trees. 5 MPH faster and Gary would most likely have made it.

#6, 1/23/05, Tahoe Meadows: The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District sponsored an avalanche class. Here Steve Backer dug a snow pit and now is describing the different layers of snow conditions that can exist.

#7, 1/23/05, Tahoe Meadows: Instructor, Steve Baker buried a transceiver in the snow, simulating a buried person with a turned-on transceiver. The class, using their own transceivers in the receive mode, practiced finding a buried avalanche victim.
